NBA Grid: the daily NBA Immaculate Grid

Sportsdle NBA Grid is a free 3×3 basketball trivia game in the style of the Immaculate Grid. Each row and column is a franchise or an achievement: MVP, All-Star, a 25-point season, a #1 overall pick, a college. Find an NBA player who satisfies both clues at each intersection, from the 1940s to today, and aim for nine correct answers. A new basketball grid arrives every day, with rarity scores to compare your picks.

How to play NBA Grid

  1. Select an empty cell and read its row and column clues.
  2. Search for a player, select their name, then submit your guess. The years next to each name tell namesakes apart.
  3. Each cell allows one submitted guess. An incorrect answer uses that cell’s attempt, so check both clues first.
  4. Fill all nine cells to finish. Nine correct answers make a perfect grid; less common correct picks help lower your rarity score.

A strategy for team and award intersections

Start with the intersection you know best. For two franchises, think of journeymen and players traded at the deadline: one appearance with each team is enough. For a franchise and an award, the award can come from anywhere in the player’s career, so a star’s one season with a new team still counts. Secure a correct answer first, then reach for a deep cut if you want a lower rarity score.

NBA Grid questions

Is NBA Grid free? Do I need an account?

The daily grid is free to play in your browser on a phone or computer. You can start without creating an account.

Is this the NBA Immaculate Grid?

It is the same daily 3×3 format as the Immaculate Grid for basketball: nine cells, one guess per cell, a new NBA grid every day. Sportsdle adds rarity scores, community stats for every cell and a leaderboard, next to daily grids for the NHL, NFL and F1.

Do old team names count, like the Seattle SuperSonics?

Yes. Each franchise includes its whole history: the SuperSonics count for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Minneapolis Lakers for the Lakers, the New Jersey Nets for Brooklyn and the 1988–2002 Hornets for Charlotte. Any regular-season appearance counts, from 1946-47 to the last completed season.

Does an award or stat have to come with that team?

No. For a team and an achievement, the player needs to have played for the team and reached the achievement at some point of his career, with any team. Season lines such as 25+ points per game need at least 40 games that season.

Can I play previous NBA grids?

Yesterday’s grid is free in the archive under the game. Sportsdle Pro unlocks every past NBA grid.

What is the difference between NBA Grid and NBA Wordle?

NBA Grid asks you to find players for nine different clue combinations. NBA Wordle asks you to identify one mystery player by comparing the feedback from successive guesses.

Careers, awards and draft data come from Basketball-Reference records and are refreshed during the season.
