NHL Immaculate Grid

What is the NHL Immaculate Grid?

The NHL Immaculate Grid is a free daily hockey grid game. You get a 3x3 board where every row and column has a condition — teams, awards, or career stats — and your job is to fill each cell with a player who satisfies both.

It plays like Puckdoku and the original Immaculate Grid, with a twist: every answer gets a rarity score, so picking obscure players who fit beats the obvious superstars. A new hockey grid drops every day, and you can replay any past grid from the archive.

How to play

  1. Look at the row and column headers — each cell needs a player who matches both (for example, played for the Bruins AND won the Norris Trophy).
  2. Search any NHL player, past or present, to fill a cell. Each player can only be used once per grid.
  3. You have 9 guesses for the 9 cells, so every wrong pick costs you a square.
  4. Rarer correct answers earn a better rarity score — go immaculate by filling all 9 cells, then compare your score on the leaderboard.

Frequently asked questions

Is the NHL Immaculate Grid free?

Yes. The daily NHL Immaculate Grid on Sportsdle is completely free to play in your browser — no download or account needed.

How does the rarity score work?

Each correct answer is scored by how often other players picked it. Uncommon but valid picks score better than popular ones, so deep hockey knowledge is rewarded.

Can I play past grids?

Yes. Sportsdle keeps a full archive of previous NHL Immaculate Grids, so you can replay any day's puzzle whenever you want — effectively unlimited grids.

Is this the same as Puckdoku?

It is the same style of daily 3x3 hockey trivia grid. Sportsdle's version adds rarity scoring, a full replayable archive, a leaderboard, and companion grids for the NFL and F1.

What counts as a valid answer?

A player is valid if they meet both the row and column conditions — for team-team cells, they must have played at least one game for both franchises.
